John received his Ph.D. under the supervision of Professor Sir Alec Jeffreys from the University of Leicester, where he studied recombination mechanisms in human minisatellite DNA. Following his Ph.D., John became a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine and later Columbia University. His post-doctoral work studied the structure of calcium-dependent cell adhesion molecules through the use of x-ray crystallography.
John is currently an attorney at Tannenbaum Helpern Syracuse & Hirschtritt LLP. His practice focuses on complex life sciences litigation, prosecution and opinion work. He has particular experience in Hatch-Waxman litigation, biotechnology and medical device prosecution and generic pharmaceuticals opinion work.
